Hosting rules in Turkey

Understand the tourism-rental permit requirement and where to get official application guidance for your property in Turkey.

Before you advertise your property

Turkey’s Law No. 7464 and its implementing regulation require a tourism-rental permit for residences rented for 100 days or fewer at a time within the scope of the law.

The rules have applied since 1 January 2024. Obtain the required permit before offering the property for tourism rentals, and display the valid permit number in your listings.

The 100-day threshold refers to the length of an individual rental, not an annual allowance of 100 nights. Ask the relevant authority if you are unsure how the rules apply to your property or rental arrangement.

How do I apply for a permit?

1. Check the requirements for your property

Contact the local provincial directorate of culture and tourism to confirm eligibility and the supporting documents or permissions required.

2. Apply through e-Government

Use the Ministry of Culture and Tourism’s permit application service through the Turkish e-Government portal.

Follow the current instructions for the tourism-rental permit certificate and provide the information requested for your property.

3. Keep and display your permit number

Once your permit is issued, keep the certificate and include the valid permit number in the required advertising and booking-site fields.

Do not assume that submitting an application means a permit has been granted or that adding a number completes every operating requirement.

What happens if I do not comply?

Advertising or operating without the required permit can lead to enforcement action and financial penalties. Booking platforms may also remove listings that do not meet the requirements.

Check the Ministry’s current guidance rather than relying on an old platform-submission deadline or fine amount.
