How do I change my property's guest limit?
Learn how to change how many guests your property sleeps, what happens to existing bookings, and how long booking channels take to update.
How to change the number of guests
The number of guests your property sleeps is based on the beds in your property, so you change it by updating your beds. You can't type in a number directly, because booking channels work out how many guests a room sleeps from the beds in it.
- Log in to your Travelnest account on the web and go to Properties.
- Click the property you want to update.
- Under Property details, select Bedrooms and bathrooms.
- Update your beds. Use Add bed to add one, or the dropdown next to a bed to change its type. Beds that aren't in a bedroom, such as a sofa bed, go under Other sleeping areas. To remove a bed you've added, use the bin icon next to it. The first bed in a bedroom can't be removed, but you can change its type. To add a bedroom, increase the number of bedrooms first, then add its beds. Every property needs at least one bedroom and one bathroom. For example, changing a double bed to a single bed lowers the number of guests by one.
- Check the capacity shown on the left, which reads something like "2 Person Capacity", then select Save changes. The button shows Saved once it's done.
You can also update your beds in the Travelnest app, in the Bedrooms and bathrooms section of your property details.
How many guests each bed counts for
A single bed or a futon counts as 1 guest. A double, queen or king bed counts as 2. There are other bed types too, and the total capacity for your property is shown on the same page.
Infants and the guest count
Booking channels don't count infants as guests, so if you allow them, an infant doesn't use up one of your guest places.
Check your headline and description
If your headline or description mentions the old number of guests, please update it too. You'll find these in a separate section of the same property page, a little higher up than Bedrooms and bathrooms.
What happens to existing bookings
The new number only applies to bookings made after you save the change. Bookings you already have stay as they were made, and you'll need to honour them for the number of guests they were booked for. If you can't accommodate one of them, please see our host cancellation guidance, as the host cancellation fee may apply.
How long it takes to show on booking sites
Once you save, we send the update to your booking channels. Most update quickly, and changes usually show within 24 hours, but each platform controls its own timing, so we can't give an exact time.
If you can't make the change
If you can't find the setting, or the number of guests doesn't change the way you expect, a human member of our Host Support team can look at your property with you.
